Pedro Américo (1843-1905) was a Brazilian artist.

Biography

Pedro Américo was born April 29, 1843 at Areia, Paraíba, Brazil.

In 1854 he moved to Rio de Janeiro to study at the Academia Imperial de Belas Artes. He traveled extensively in Europe (Paris and Florence), back and forth from Rio de Janeiro, achieving international fame.

Américo died in Florence, Italy on October 7, 1905.
